“Is my child ready for piano lessons?”
“What if they don’t enjoy it, and I’ve spent so much on lessons?”
If these questions sound familiar, I’m here to provide a gentle way to introduce your child to the joy of playing the piano.
My Teaching Style
I may not be a professional pianist, but I’ve spent 5 rewarding years in San Diego teaching beginner piano to children with care and patience. I intentionally limit the number of students in my studio to ensure personalized, focused instruction tailored to each child’s needs.
My lessons are more than just learning to play. I incorporate music theory to help students build a deeper understanding and appreciation of music. I carefully choose lesson books that are specifically tailored to suit each student's unique learning style and goals. To celebrate their progress, I host 1–2 recitals each year at which students can showcase their growth. These events are a highlight for families and friends, with lively duets and group performances that bring everyone together.
A Personal Journey to Teaching
When I first moved to the U.S. from Japan, I wanted my daughters to experience the joy of learning piano. However, I was shocked by the high cost of lessons and unsure if they would even enjoy playing. Then, I found a teacher who wasn’t a professional pianist but taught with heart, patience, and dedication. Thanks to her guidance, my daughters began to love the piano.
When she relocated, I was inspired to bring that same passion for teaching into my community. I began teaching neighborhood children and, during the pandemic, further developed my skills by studying child psychology and online teaching methods.
Now in Rancho Santa Margarita
In 2024, I moved to Rancho Santa Margarita and am excited to welcome new students to my home studio. Located in a family-friendly neighborhood close to Arroyo Vista School, my studio is a warm, inviting space where children can explore and grow their love for music. Please note that I keep my studio small and will pause new admissions once I reach capacity.
"You never know what small step might open the door to something extraordinary."
Let that first step be a piano lesson for your child! Reach out today to learn more or to schedule a trial session. I look forward to meeting you and your little musician!
